VILLA MILAGRO MINISTRIES
The Aldea Infantile de San Antonio orphanage is a state orphanage that has been in need of our help since 1985. Villa Milagro provides meat and milk to the orphanage each month for more than 40 children. The total needed each month to support this ministry is $500.
In July 2021, Villa Milagro employed Pastor Esteban Chavez to lead the church at Arahuante and work with the members there to establish and build churches in the other small villages in that area. Esteban and his wife and 3 sons moved from the city of Trujillo to the jungle and are serving there today. We try to support Esteban’s work with volunteers a couple of times a year. Travel in the jungle and along the rivers is very difficult and accommodations are primitive, but it is reaching people that otherwise will never hear the gossip and is a very important part of the overall mission outreach of Villa Milagro. It costs an average of $2,800 month to support the work in Arahuante.
Between the years of 1995 and 2019, Villa Milagro and mission teams purchased and distributed an average of 5,000 Bibles each year. Even during Covid-19, 3,500 New Testaments were distributed. This is an important part of the Villa Milagro ministry - sharing the Good News of Christ’s love.
Drilling water wells was the Johnson’s original mission in Cajamarca, Peru in 1985. Poor drinking water is a big problem in Peru. It results in many illnesses for children and families. Since this ministry began Villa Milagro has drilled over 400 wells and worked on several others. The price of a new well is approximately $8,000.
Pan Con Amor (Bread with Love) began in 2014. This ministry now provides more than 40,000 small protein bread loaves for children in 95 schools each month that is baked on the Villa Milagro grounds. The cost of the bakery more than $4000 per month. The average cost of sponsoring a school to receive Pan Con Amor per month is about $50 per month.
The BECA project provides financial assistance to students of Christian elementary or high school, or to older students to attend university or trade school. In 2022, Villa Milagro helped with over $10,000 for 30 students. You can help sponsor a student and make a difference in their education. The average cost of sponsoring a student to the Monte Sion Christian School is approximately $1,000 per year. The average cost of sponsoring a student for higher education is $1,300 per year.
The Joy Center at Villa Milagro provides sewing classes for women living in rural villages. Many women are left to nurture and rear their children after their husbands have left. The women learn how to sew clothing and also learn about the Lord through Bible study. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the clothing goes to help each woman and part of the proceeds goes towards keeping the Joy Center ministry going. The greatest benefits are that the women learn a trade and that they are learning from the Bible. Staff member Anita Huaman leads this ministry. In 2023, six women are currently being reached through this ministry.
Immediate Needs and Answered Prayers is a ministry that helps needy families with urgent needs like food, medicine and many other needs. Villa Milagro does not give cash, but pays for the need directly or purchases food. You can give to help this ministry. Any amount of money can really make a difference in this ministry that shares the hope of Christ.
In 1999, Villa Milagro partnered with Monte Sion church to build a school based on Christian principles. That first year the school had kindergarten, first and second grades with 19 students and 3 teachers. By 2015 the school had grown to over 400 students and 25 teachers plus administrators. Monte Sion school has one of the highest graduation rates and best test scores of any school in Cajamarca and each year dozens of children are turned down for admission simply due to limited facilities. It is our goal to build another school facility on the Villa Milagro property and divide the schools into elementary and high schools. This is very expensive but a worth while project that we continue to pray about and work towards.
There are general operating expenses for Villa Milagro. These include salaries, taxes, utilities, accounting and miscellaneous items, such as building upkeep, vehicle maintenance, gasoline and more.
Salaries, $3,500
Taxes, $750
Utilities and accounting, $1500
